Miami Heat forward Shane Battier has signed a deal with ESPN to become a college basketball analyst for the 2014-15 season, according to The Big Lead’s Jason McIntyre.

Battier confirmed in March that he would be retiring following the Heat’s playoff run.

The Duke graduate had received inquiries about running for public office in his home state of Michigan as well as joining the Detroit Pistons as an executive, but he passed on the opportunities in order to begin a career in broadcasting, reports Ethan Skolnick of Bleacher Report.

The length of the contract and Battier’s exact role in ESPN’s NCAA coverage are both still unknown, as he and the network are waiting until after the Finals to announce the deal.
